Setting aside the flood of references given earlier, another idea is for you to approach a local university in your country experienced in data forensics, talk to a professor in forensics and request to assign the recovery task to a forensics graduate as a case study.

I've not attempted on my own yet. I heard back from the local shop yesterday and logged on remotely to view my files. Pictures are recovered to a great degree. Video files are still in process. Hence, it looks promising so far and I'm very happy if I don't have to attempt to learn how to do this on my own.

Thanks for all your good input. Although I haven't attempted recovery on my own, I've learned a lot through reading what you've written and some of the many references you've provided.
